In males, a binge eating disorder is characterized by periodic instances of extreme over-eating and binging. Typically males with adolescent binge eating disorder do not “purge” to prevent weight gain. Many times these disorders develop when adolescents need to maintain a certain weight or body image for a sport or other extracurricular activity. But unhealthy habits are difficult to curb, and these can spiral out of control.
